Performance Task
Comparing and Contrasing the two world text in terms of their themes: moral lesson, social realities and the distrinct cultural featuress that came out from each literary text read.
Want by : Cindy Pon
Delirium by : Lauren Oliver
Cindy Pon's critically acclaimed sci-fi thriller "Want" is set in a near-future Taipei devastated by pollution, and follows a group of youngsters who risk everything to save their city. Lason Zhou lives in a divided society where the wealthy buy longer lives with their money. Want is set far enough into the future to include new technology and even more urgent pollution issues, but not so far into the future that readers won't recognize similarities between our current environmental themes and Zhou's. The theme of the environment is frighteningly relevant. The Delirium, on the other hand, is a dystopian young adult novel written by Lauren Oliver and published by Harper Collins on January 1, 2011. (HarperTeen). The protagonist of the story is a young woman. In a culture where love is viewed as a disease, Lena Haloway falls in love. The Delirium Trilogy follows Lena, a teenage girl, as she embarks on adventures and fights against a government that believes love is a disease. In this civilization, once you reach the age of 18, you must undergo surgery to "cure" you of the Love Disease. However, the moral lessons of the two stories are similar in that everyone makes their own sacrifices for their loved ones, demonstrating that love can conquer all. Both books have a great plot twist and a moral to them.
